Goa, Be Awestruck 6D5N

“A kaleidoscopic blend of Indian and Portuguese cultures, sweetened with sun, sea, sand, seafood, susegad and spirituality, Goa is India’s pocket-sized paradise. The Portuguese indelible mark is still evident in the state’s baroque architecture, whitewashed churches, crumbling forts, colourful Catholic ceremonies, mournful fado music and the stunning cathedrals of Old Goa.
…the Indo-Portuguese influence is a treat for the taste buds. While you’re here, visit a back-country spice farm…
Want to top up your Zen as well as your tan? .. sunrise yoga sessions on the beach, reiki healing courses, meditation, and just about every other form of spiritual exploration, are all practiced freely….”

Day 02: In Goa
After breakfast; we will do a half day city tour of PANJIM & OLD GOA CHURCHES.
Panjim tours would take you to some of Goa’s most fascinating beaches and sacred shrines. Day starts with the palm-fringed beach of Dona Paula features prominently in tours of Panaji. The beach is named after Dona Paula de Menzes, the daughter of a viceroy during the Portuguese rule. The beach has come to be known as a favorite shooting destination for Bollywood movies. It is also a popular hub for various water sports.

Visit the famous Miramar beach located very close to the Panaji town. As such the beach remains overcrowded most of the time, with locals and tourists indulged in a multitude of activities. From the beach one can have a nice view of the Aguada fort across the river Mondovi.

Proceed to Old Goa visiting, the Basilica of Bom Jesus church is dedicated to Infant Jesus. An epitome of Baroque architecture, this church has been declared a World Heritage Monument. Basilica of Bom Jesus enshrines the mortal remains of St. Francis Xavier, the patron saint of Goa. On the occasion of ‘Exposition,’ held once in a decade, St. Francis Xavier’s body is displayed for the public.

Later visit one of the largest churches in Asia; the Se Cathedral was dedicated to St. Catherine of Alexandria since the Portuguese led by Alfonso de Albuquerque conquered Goa on the St. Catherine’s day (November 25) in 1510. The church contains the Golden Bell used during the infamous Goa Inquisition.

Also visit the Archaeological Museum in the abandoned Convent of St. Francis of Assisi. The 8 galleries of the Archaeological Museum in Old Goa display portraits and sculptures from the prehistoric to the late mediaeval period.
Rest of the day at leisure. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 03 – 05: Free at Leisure.
Day 06: Transfer to Goa airport to board flight for onwards destination.

OPTIONAL FULL DAY EXCURSION TO DUDHSAGAR WATERFALLS (Incremental Charge of 120$ per person)
The most impressive waterfalls of Goa (Dudhsagar) lie on its eastern border with Karnataka. Measuring a mighty 600m from head to foot situated on the Goa-Karnataka border is a spectacular enough sight to entice a steady stream of visitors from the coast into the rugged Western Ghats. After pouring across the Deccan plateau, the headwaters of the Mandovi River form a foaming torrent that fan into three streams, then cascades down a near-vertical cliff face into a deep green pool. Water plummets hundreds of feet in large volume, in cascades, forming one of the most spectacular of all natural phenomena in Goa and a lifeline of our ecosystem in one of our sanctuaries.

The day starts with a drive across the vibrant state of Goa, passing through small villages, past bright paddy fields and swaying palms as we head for the local wild life sanctuary (Bhagvan Mahavir Sanctuary). Drive on to Collem to board the four wheel drive safari vans/ safari jeeps to take you to the waterfalls. Time for refreshing swim in the cool clean waters under the cascading streams. Lie down and share the shade of trees and nuts/ bananas with the monkeys. Time to proceed for lunch (on direct payment); close to the famous Shri Mahadev Temple (Tambdi Surla). After some time to relax and then we proceed back to your respective hotel.
